Financial Support
|
Financial supportAll students accepted into the Biological Chemistry Program are provided full financial support that includes a competitive stipend, covers tuition and fees, and provides health insurance coverage through completion of their degree program. When a dissertation advisor has been chosen, the student will then typically be supported as a Research Assistant from that individual's research grant. In addition, we have NIH supported fellowships for which students can apply that will allow greater freedom in choosing a mentor and planning a research project. Students will be supported to attend national meetings in biological chemistry during their studies, and may participate in our innovative program for student sabbaticals in which students are supported for short stays in non-academic laboratories or other institutions in order to broaden their understanding of possible post-graduate careers. Also available are the University of Arizona Minority Disparities Research Opportunities Awards, funded by the NIH IMSD, which are offered to outstanding underrepresented minority students admitted to one of the biomedical Ph.D. programs at the University.
