Note upfront: Mac OS X does NOT support any version of
Chime; Mac OS 9 is fine (see Chime Resources below).
In order to run the graphics routines you must use
NETSCAPE 4 (4.7x,
or 4.8x), but NO HIGHER (Netscape 6 and 7 DO NOT WORK with Chime,
nor does Internet Explorer work reliably for the Chime scripts in this
course), and you must have the Chime plugin module installed in your
"Plugins" folder for the correct version of Netscape. If the routines
run, then Chime has already been installed on your computer. If not,
then you must obtain and install Chime as follows:
-
Click on the "Download Chime" button to obtain the Chime
2.6 software. This will take you to the Chime distribution page
(upper right corner for downloads). Make sure you obtain the correct
version for your computer (PC or Mac).
-
Exit Netscape and run the installation (double click
the install icon). Note that the program *must* be placed
in your "Plugins" folder (located in your Netscape folder, specifically
in the folder of the correct version of Netscape, e.g. 4.7).
-
If you have trouble, visit the Chime
Resources page (and click on Browsers, Platforms, Installations,
Troubleshooting), or contact an instructor.
