Introduction - This script shows the structure nucleosome core particle (Based on 1aoi.pdb, K. Luger et al., Nature 389 251 (1997)).

  Here is the nucleosome core particle. The 8 core proteins, 2 copies each of histones H2A, H2B, H3 and H4, are reperersnted in cartoon format. The DNA that wraps around the proteins is shown in space fill.

Here is a side view of the nucleosome.

  In this view both the protein and DNA are in space fill to show the close packing.

   In this view the DNA backbone has been highlighted. Note that the DNA helix is not strictly the B form, but shows irregular features.
