G-Actin

Introduction - This script shows the structure of G-actin with ATP bound to the active site. (Based on 1atn.pdb, W. Kabach et al. (1990) Nature 347, 37 - 44.


 



This script shows monomeric G-actin with ATP bound at the active site. A Ca2+ is also bound at the active site. G-actin hydrolyzes ATP ONLY during filament formation and NOT druing muscle contraction.



This script illustrates the orientation in which ATP is bound to the protein. Only the triphosphate moiety of ATP is sequestered in the active site.
