Here is a water molecule. Note the bent shape.

Here are several water molecules linked by hydrogen bonds.

Here is a water forming a hydrogen bond to the carbonyl (C=O) group
of the amino acid glutamine. That water also forms a hydrogen
bond to a second water molecule.

Water can also solvate ions. Here we see two water molecules
interacting with the charged NH+ of arginine. In turn, each water
molecules also forms a hydrogen bond to a second water molecule.
