Synthetic Fatty Acid Synthase Inhibitor and Obesity; A New Approach to Regulating Appetite

Mice that are treated with a synthetic fatty acid synthase inhibitor C75 lose weight and eat less. C75 inhibits their appetite and increases their metabolism. The mice in the figure below are both genetically obese mice (ob/ob), but the mouse on the right was treated with C75 for 30 days. This report explores the mechanism by which C75 works and how that mechanism provides new insight into the biochemistry of appetite.
