Grading
175 point will be allocated to the honors section.  At the end of the semester the honors section will add their honors points (up to 175) to their Bioc 462a points (up to 700) and calculate a percentage out of 875 points. The percentage will be used to determine the final grade on the same scale as Bioc 462a.

In the honors section, 100 points will be assigned to daily grades.  Each day students will be required to turn in some sort of assignment.  These might be: a summary of work on the day's problems, a macro for producing computer graphics, copies of scientific papers to be used for paper writing, a graphics file, a bibliography or list of ideas for subsequent research.

The remaining 75 points will be assigned to a review article that the student will submit to the Proceeding of Bioc 462a Honors, a journal dedicated to study of structure and function in biochemistry.  The students will submit their articles, they will be reviewed by the class and the instructors, the papers will be rewritten and resubmitted.  Papers finally accepted by the editors will be published on the web.

Absences
Attendance is required.  Excused absences can be made up.  The mechanism for the make-up will depend upon the material missed. Contact Dr. Osterhout.
