In Little's section of the class, a heavy emphasis is placed on critical thinking and how to make and test hypotheses. Students will have an assignment for which the goal is to take two models for a gene regulatory system and develop experimental tests for how to distinguish between the models. In addition, on Midterm II a portion of the exam will be this same exercise. Here are links to sample answers for a problem set and for part of a midterm. In addition, there is a link describing how to think about one aspect of solving such problems, in vitro biochemical tests.
