In this class, a heavy emphasis is placed on critical thinking and how to make and test hypotheses. One part of this is an assignment for which the goal is to take two (or more) models for a gene regulatory system and develop experimental tests for how to distinguish between or among the models. In addition, on Midterm II a portion of the exam will be this same exercise. Here are links to sample answers for a problem set and for part of a midterm. In addition, there is a link describing how to think about one aspect of solving such problems, in vitro biochemical tests.
