Club Officers

Name: Megan Paul, President
Email: megcraig@email.arizona.edu
Year: Senior
Major: Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, and Microbiology
Career Goals: To pursue and MD or MD/PhD and go on to practice either pathology or oncology. I also am considering pursuing public health development in third world nations.
Personal Interests: I love to ski (water or snow), travel, and scuba dive. I am involved in volunteering at Odyssey Hospice, and I also work with heat shock proteins in Dr. Vierlings biochemistry lab.

Name: Alice Ferng, Vice-President
Email: aferng@email.arizona.edu
Year: Junior
Major: Biochemistry & Molecular Biophysics, MCB, Chinese minor
Career Goals: MD fo' sho'... PhD is up in the air... and one day Doctors Without Borders.
Personal Interests: Life is amazing, and sometimes I'm simply taken away by the beauty in everything around us. I'm interested in a lot of things, but most of my time spent falls into one of the following categories: music, science, religion, languages, outdoors stuff, literature/art and hospice/volunteering (which is a ton of things haha). I currently work in Dr. Szivek's Lab with non-embryonic stem cells to engineer cartilage for osteoarthritis patients (a more top-down approach), but my research interests lie most heavily in genetics/biochemistry. Also, "the most wasted of all days is one without laughter" --e.e. cummings (...well, sometimes...)

Name: Dario Pasalic, Secretary/Treasurer
Email: pasalic@email.arizona.edu
Year: Sophomore
Major: Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, Molecular and Cellular Biology
Career Goals: I aim to pursue a career in medicine, practicing in the neurological field as either a surgeon or internist. One day, I look forward to combining my two passions, medicine and traveling, in order to branch out and engage in humanitarian work.
Personal Interests: I was born and raised in Europe and lived throughout several countries when I was younger, which is why, I suppose, I enjoy camping, hiking, and traveling so much today. I definitely cannot turn down to watch or play a decent soccer or tennis match, seeing as though those are my two favorite sports.

Name: Mark Leick, Ambassador Chair
Email:mleick@email.arizona.edu
Year: Senior
Major: Biosystems Engineering, Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, Molecular and Cellular Biology
Career Goals: To continue a lifelong passion for science in a professional field.
Personal Interests: I love to stay active--you'll find me at the REC almost every day. I enjoy playing sports, but hate watching them. For me science is almost dogmatic, a framework with which I use to live my life and learn everything I can about the cosmos.  I come from a humble background and I take great pride in being the first person from my family to go to college.

Name: Lisa Danowski, Speaker Chair
Email: lmd@email.arizona.edu
Year: Junior
Major
: Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, Molecular and Cellular Biology and a Math Minor
Career Goals: I'm pursuing a career in medicine, but the specialty changes all the time... I get far too excited about things, which makes it difficult to settle on one!
Personal Interests: I'm passionate about 70s rock, hiking, painting, and of course science! The world around us never ceases to amaze me, and I'm constantly astounded by the things we've yet to learn. I currently work in Dr. David Gang's lab doing research on the phenylpropanoid pathway of sweet basil.

Name: Craig Sheedy, Speaker Chair
Email: agbullet@email.arizona.edu
Year: Senior/ To be super-senior.
Major: Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, Physiology, Spanish minor
Career Goals: I'm aiming to get an M.D., and maybe go into anesthesiology. My back up plan is to be a shoe polisher in an airport, or a window washer.
Personal Interests: I'm a Taurus. I like taking long walks on the beach at night where I can just listen to waves crashing and stare contemplatively at the stars and ponder the meaning of life. I'm sensitive, loyal, and way too busy for my own good. My favorite T.V. show is Alias, and Jennifer Garner is
my hero. In my free time I enjoy throwing myself off 3-story buildings and landing on my head...or something like that. I also work on protein crystallization in Dr. McEvoy's lab.
Name: Jamie Howard , Social Chair
Email: jlh2@email.arizona.edu
Year: Senior
Major: Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, Molecular and Cellular Biology
Career Goals: I hope to one day be a criminalist for the Department of Public Safety... and if that doesn't work out I will continue with research.
Personal Interests: Wouldn't you like to know ;)
Name: Danielle Buck, Social Chair
Email: dbuck1@email.arizona.edu
Year: Junior, Class of 2009
Major: Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics
Career Goals: To Be Determined
Personal Interests: I am from a small town in Minnesota but sadly I no longer have an accent. I love running, and singing in the shower. I also am a big fan of punk music!
Name: Tara Archuleta, Journal Club Chair
Email: tlarchul@email.arizona.edu

Personal Interests:
Name: Matthew Grimes, Webmaster/Listserv Manager
Email: mgrimes@email.arizona.edu
Year: Senior
Major: Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, Spanish & Portuguese
Career Goals: Scientist, Humanitarian, Artist, Web Developer, Writer, Musician, Technology Geek...the sky's the limit right?
Personal Interests: There are so many things to be interested in in this world: learning languages, listening to music, being random, making obscure references, rock climbing, running, attempting to understand science, video gaming, reading...and apparently being overly energetic about listing things.
