Overview of Biochemistry & Molecular Biophysics Graduate Programs

HOW TO APPLY:

SEND ALL APPLICATION MATERIALS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY AND MOLECULAR BIOPHYSICS.

STEP 1: Complete the Department application online.

Click HERE for the ONLINE application

Alternatively, you may download the appropriate application and supplementary materials (PDF format - click here) and mail the completed application as described in STEP 2.

STEP 2: Arrange for application materials and supplements to be sent directly to the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at the address shown below. To expedite this process you may send copies of your standard test scores. Official copies will be required to finalize your admission. Materials to be sent directly to the department include:

A/ Three letters of recommendation from people who are familiar with your work (one of these letters should be from your research advisor, if applicable). Remember to give your letter writers plenty of notice. Click here to download the forms for letters of recommendation.
B/ Official transcripts of all college and university work
C/ Official GRE results (General exam is required and a subject exam is recommended but not mandatory)
D/ For international applicants whose native language is not English, the Graduate College requires a minimum TOEFL score for admission: 550 for the Paper-Based Test (PBT); 213 for the Computer-Based Test (CBT); and 79-80 for the Internet-Based Test (IBT). International students intent on receiving financial aid must be aware that Graduate Teaching Assistants carry on a variety of teaching assignments and evidence of good English speaking skills is important. International students applying for Graduate Teaching Assistant positions must have (i) a minimum score on the TOEFL (scores described above) and (ii) a minimum score of 50 for the TSE .
Please note for fall admission, if the TOEFL test is older than July 2006 , the test would have to be retaken.

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination is now being accepted by the UA Graduate College in lieu of the TOEFL. The minimum IELTS score requirement for admissions consideration is a score of 7, with a score of no less than 6 on any individual band or module. In the case of both the TOEFL and the IELTS, test scores must be dated within two years of the date of enrollment.
