Biochemistry Computing Lab (BioLab)

BioLab policy

The Biochemistry computing lab (room 243) is intended for use by currently matriculated Biochemistry Department students to accomplish course related assignments. Instructors who desire a semester-long lab access for their class should contact Ron Richards (richards@email.arizona.edu) to reserve the lab and Douglas Starkey (dstarkey@u.arizona.edu) to setup accounts for their students.

It is essential that each instructor provide advance notice of need for student accounts (e.g. at the end of the Fall semester for lab use the following Spring). Each account requires a personal login and password. It takes time to configure the accounts.

To request computer lab access accounts, please provide us with the following information:

  1. Name and number of the course.
  2. Dates and times when the class may meet, as a group, in the biolab facility (for scheduling).
  3. Faculty instructor or TA who is responsible for monitoring class use of the computer lab.
  4. An excel spreadsheet with the student roster for the course.
  5. .Software that will be used by the class during the semester.
  6. Do you need an account for the TA or instructor? If so, please provide the name(s).

Once the accounts are created, you will receive a room access code, login and general use instructions for each student. The instructions include advice about the need for regular data backup and a note about the account expiration date.

For classes that will be creating web projects for display on the internet, we will need to arrange a meeting to discuss the specific needs.
