Welcome!! 2008 MCDB/BMB Research Retreat will be held from October 3rd-5th at The Southwest Research Station, Portal, AZ Keynote Speaker: Dr. Tim Stearns, Stanford University Title: Centrosomes, Cilia, and the Cell Cycle We are very pleased to inform that this year Dr. Tim Stearns will be joining us as our keynote guest. Dr. Stearns' research focuses on cell biology, particularly the microtubule cytoskeleton, a dynamic network of filaments and associated motors and organizing factors found in all eukaryotic cells. He is an associate professor at Stanford University and participated in HHMI Professorship program from 2002-2006.
Southwest Research Station (SWRS) is owned and operated by the American Museum of Natural History and the station is located at 5400 feet elevation in the heart of the Chiricahua mountains, surrounded by oak-juniper-pinyon pine woodlands. Temperature is nice and cool. It is (about) a 2.5hrs drive from campus. Posters All attendees are encouraged to participate in the poster session. There are two poster sessions that are scheduled for the evening of Friday, October 3rd (Last Name A-H) and the morning of Saturday, October 4th (Last Name I-Z). Stuff You Should Bring to the Retreat Babysitter Jennifer Heck, a fabulous BMB undergrad, has volunteered to babysit. Jenny can be reached at jenheck@email.arizona.edu.
