This award goes to top undergraduates studying math, science or engineering, who intend to pursue research careers in fields that are part of the in-demand STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines. At least two UA students are named Goldwater Scholars each year.

Provided by the ARCS Foundation (Achievement Rewards for College Scientists) that has raised over $61.4 million to support selected engineering, science, and technology students across the nation. Since 1975, the Phoenix Chapter of the ARCS Foundation alone has raised over $3.3 million for 590 Scholars at the UA, ASU, and NAU.
