Michelle Brandon and Amy Alabaster in the Czech Republic

This weekend (July 5-7) was a 4-day holiday weekend in the Czech Republic. And Michelle considered working but was told that "only crazy people work this weekend." So, when in the Czech Republic, do as the Czechs do.

Michelle and Amy went to a big Czech film festival where there were a bunch of famous directors and attractions. Also the lab went out to dinner and it was pretty entertaining. There is also a picture of my sedated guinea pig on there. Michelle had to feed some ticks on it and it made this really awful screaming noise that was a bit nauseating when it was injected with the anesthesia.

Amy and Michelle went to Amsterdam last weekend and stayed with Saman, who is working in a lab there through the BRAVO program. Pierre was visiting a friend at a military base in Germany and took a train to meet us up there. The red light district was, well, interesting....

Things are going pretty well in Ceske Budejovice also. I had some kind of interesting results in the lab last week, and I might take my project in a slightly different direction. Petr, the "tick digestion guy" (he did a post-doc in John Law's lab), has taken some interest in my project as well.

Michelle hopes those in Arizona are enjoying the 114*F weather. She say's It's been a little chilly here... maybe 70*F.
