Rachel Miller, Academic Advisor, Senior

After a semester and a summer in Italy, I'm back from my sojourn and advising in person again.
I am the College of Science Advisor assigned to the Biochemistry Programs. A former UA Alum (1992 BA & BS) (2001 MA) I've been on campus for 12 of the past 20 years.  I love this place!  I hope that, as your advisor, I can help make the transition to the University, be it from high school or as a transfer student, be as smooth as possible and help guide you as a current student to achieve your full potential.
How to schedule a meeting
The easiest way for current students to schedule a meeting is to check the appointment sheet outside my office. I hope to have online scheduling up and running soon. Transfer or prospective students should email me at rahughes@u.arizona.edu to schedule a meeting. I do not schedule appointments on Fridays, and typically schedule appointments between 8:30am and 4pm.

Google mail and a webcam?

You can ask general advising questions via Google video chat. Send your Google mail name to me at rahughes@u.arizona.edu from your new Catmail address and I will send you a Gchat invite. Hours TBA

Skype? You can ask general questions via Skype.

Out of the state? Whether you have a webcam or not you can use your computer to Skype me. Almost just like a phone call, but without the long distance fees. Send me your Skype name at rahughes@u.arizona.edu from your UA email address.

Adobe Breeze & UA email

If you're a transfer student that lives at some distance from Tucson and need to address the Orientation requirement, we can do that with a special program. Some appointments require discussion of student records and demand a more secure process so as to not violate federal laws protecting students’ educational rights and privacy. Email me your question or email me to set up a secure chat using Adobe Breeze.
Twitter & Facebook
I'm on Twitter (LINK TO: http://twitter.com/AcademicAdvisor ) and on Facebook (Link To http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=77456325402)  with a Biochemistry Advising Group page (you have to request access to this page).  These social networking pages are a great way to find out events and ongoing updates, but do not substitute for reading your official UA email.
