The Vierling Lab is in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, in the Life Sciences South building. Dr. Vierling also holds joint appointments in the Departments of Molecular and Cellular Biology and Plant Sciences and is a member of the BIO5 faculty. The lab is an active member of the Biochemistry and Molecular and Cellular Biology (BMCB) graduate program, the BCP graduate program and the Plant Sciences Graduate Program.  Research conducted in the lab focuses on the structure and function of molecular chaperones and the mechanism of plant response to environmental stress. The lab uses biochemistry, genetics and molecular and genomics techniques to address these questions.

Dr. Vierling has taught in the core biochemistry courses for majors (Biochem 462a and b), the core plant sciences courses for graduate students, and runs a seminar course for first year graduate students (595c).
